Police are appealing for the help of the public to trace a 26-year-old man reported missing from the Bothwell area who has connections in the Edinburgh area.

Michael Simpson was last in touch with his family around 8.40am on Friday, 9 August, and concerns are growing for his welfare.

He may have travelled in his black Volkswagon Polo, registration SH19 OYR, towards the Inverness area. He also has connections in the Edinburgh area.

Michael is described as 6ft 5ins, of medium build, with light brown receding hair and a beard. When last seen he was wearing a brown hooded jumper, black trousers and white trainers.

Inspector Mark Chivers of Hamilton Police Office said: “We are asking anyone who has seen Michael or knows where he is to get in touch as we want to make sure he is safe and well.

“If you can help then please get in touch via 101, quoting reference number 0687 of Friday, 9 August, 2024.”
