Five things you need to know today

New First Minister

Today John Swinney will officially become the First Minister of Scotland.

He will be sworn in at the Court of Session during a ceremony this morning.

On Tuesday afternoon he and his wife Elizabeth went to Bute House for their first photo call there after Mr Swinney was elected First Minister at The Scottish Parliament.

Minister visits Wester Hailes
