As 2021 summertime gets into full swing, two east of Scotland treasures are set to host a series of outdoor theatre and music performances throughout July and August.
Taking place at Newhailes house (Musselburgh) and Falkland Palace (Fife), families and theatre lovers can enjoy a day out to enjoy a classic family adenture such as Treasure Island or Shakespeares’ Henry V under the stars.
Visitors are invited to bring their blankets and chairs and enjoy the open air shows, set within the gardens and grounds of two of Scotland’s historic properties.
Newhailes house is a Palladian style country house which stands in 80 acres of parkland, maintained by The National Trust for Scotland. Here, theatre fans can enjoy The Tempest on Saturday 17 July and a production of Treasure Island on 21 July, when pirates will descend on the Musselburgh estate.
Travelling further afield, Shakespeare fans can visit the palace of Scottish royalty, Falkland Palace, Fife – which will host a production of Henry V on Sunday 15 August. Against this backdrop of the former home of Mary Queen of Scots, the tale of the charismatic King will be brought to life.
