A man has been taken to hospital following an explosion at a house in Dixon Road, Whitburn.

A number of residents in the street raised the alarm about 09:30 yesterday morning after hearing a bang.

A neighbouring house was evacuated to allow for investigations into the incident to continue.

Three fire engines and a heavy rescue unit responded to the incident and put out the blaze.

A police spokesman said: “The male householder has been taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he is being treated by medical staff.”
