Hearts have made seven signings during the summer transfer window.

Their signings include former keeper and Scotland international Craig Gordon from Celtic.

Gordon was instrumental in Hearts’ 2006 Scottish Cup triumph and was named Scottish Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year – the first Hearts recipient since Sandy Jardine in 1986 and the first goalkeeper since Andy Goram in 1993.

His form made him a Scotland regular and prompted a £9m move to Sunderland back in 2007.

Injuries affected his time with Sunderland and was released from his contract in 2012. After two years out of the game he signed for Celtic in the summer of 2014.

Former Rangers’ midfielder Andy Halliday also put pen to paper. Halliday previously played for Livingston, Middlesbrough and Bradford City before moving to boyhood favourites Rangers for who he made over 100 appearances including a goal scoring appearance in the club’s 3-2 Scottish Cup final defeat to Hibs.

The other signings are Jordan Roberts from Ipswich Town, Elliott Frear from Forest Green Rovers, Mihai Popescu from Dinamo Bucharest.

The club also brought in two loan deals, Ross Stewart  from Livingston and Josh Ginnelly  from Preston North End.

Robbie Neilson’s side start their competitive season tonight at Tynecastle against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

John graduated from Telford College in 2010 with an HNC in Practical Journalism and since then he worked for the North Edinburgh News, The Southern Reporter, the Irish News Review and The Edinburgh Reporter. In addition he has been published in the Edinburgh Evening News and the Hibernian FC Programme.
