Edinburgh’s Christmas has begun in Princes Street Gardens today, although the event officially starts with a music, light and pyrotechnic extravaganza on Sunday, 17 November 2019 on The Royal Mile.

Meanwhile there are dodgems and a helter skelter on Castle Street. When we passed earlier on Saturday evening it seemed very quiet there, but hopefully the word gets out soon.

The free, community event will include performances from local Edinburgh talent and a dazzling pyrotechnic display at 5.00pm with Santa himself who will pay the audiences a ‘flying’ visit.

5 local groups (with cast members from The Lion King) will perform on the stage located on the Mile, near Cockburn Street.

Light Night will be hosted as usual by Forth Radio’s Arlene Stuart.
