The Scottish SPCA is appealing to animal lovers in Edinburgh and the Lothians to donate Anigene, a specialist disinfectant, for the animals currently being cared for at their centre in Balerno.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity cares for thousands of animals that have been abused, injured or abandoned each year, across Scotland.

Diane Aitchison, manager of the Scottish SPCA’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Balerno said, “Due to the large number of animals that we rescue the Society is fighting a constant battle against different types of infection.

“We aim to protect every animal against infection while they are in our care and we currently use Anigene on a daily basis to help prevent this.

“We do not receive any government funding and rely on donations to continue our work. Because of this, any donations of Anigene would be extremely beneficial and hugely appreciated.

“Anigene can be donated to our centres through our Amazon wishlist, or by purchasing on a third-party site such as Viovet and having it delivered to our centres. Alternatively you can drop any donations into one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres in person.”
