The Hibernian Academy is opening its doors to local non-professional clubs.

Led by Academy Liaison Jim Greechan, local players, coaches and parents have visited the Hibernian Training Centre to engage with Academy staff and see what goes on behind the scenes.

Of particular interest has been the long-term athlete development programme delivered by Head of Academy Science & Medicine Steve Curnyn and his team, player analysis delivered by Head of Academy Analysis Tom Doyle, and Technical Coaching led by Eddie May, Grant Evans and Phil Kidd.

Graeme MacKenzie, a coach from Leith Athletic u15s, said: “It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and the players, coaches and parents took a lot away from the academy visit.

“Multiple topics from diet to preparing properly for match days, to analysing performances after matches was covered throughout the visit.

“The fact that we also witnessed the focus of the Hibs staff and academy players on the training pitch is something we will continue to remind our own team of. From a coaches point of view the attention to detail and the hard work within the academy’s sports science department was particularly eye opening.

“All in all it was a great night and it was of great benefit to our players, coaches and parents to see the workings of an Elite Academy”.

Jim Greechan said “It’s been a real privilege spending time with so many clubs, showing them what goes on at HTC.

“We are rightly very proud of the work that is going on at the Academy at the moment.  We’ve had some really good conversations with the clubs who have attended so far and it’s been great to share some ideas with them.

“I’ve got a full diary between now and Christmas and we’ll be extending an invite to more clubs in 2019 too.”
