The British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF) is looking for volunteers to help support people who are blind and partially sighted in Edinburgh.

The BWBF is the only charity which provides specially adapted radios on free loan so that blind people can listen to the radio, podcasts, talking books and newspapers. The charity also sells radios to those who don’t meet the criteria for a free loan. To find out more, go to www.bwbfdirect.co.uk

The charity needs people who are home bases to undertake a variety of administrative and research tasks.

BWBF Regional Development Manager Sophie Wheldon said: “Volunteering really is a great way of giving back to your community and we are looking for people in Edinburgh to support us in delivering our service to blind people, giving them a lifeline to the outside world.”

“This role is a great opportunity for someone to gain valuable experience within a national charity with the added bonus of being able to do it from home.”

“If you are looking to improve your employment opportunities then volunteering gives you a host of transferrable skills and shows you have a drive and passion to make a difference.”

If you are interested in finding out more about this voluntary role please contact Sophie Wheldon on 01283 790 208 or e-mail sophie@blind.org.uk
