A car hits a skid on a rally stage

NCS Border Counties Rally bosses have confirmed that the event will not run this year after they were unable to find a new date.

The Jedburgh-based event was originally planned for March 10 but was postponed due to the extreme conditions in the South of Scotland and Tweed Valley forests.

Clayton Lackenby, clerk of the course, said: “It’s not a position we wanted to be in but we will now turn its thoughts to 2019.

“We are exploring routes which may allow a Rally 2WD format and we will watch with interest how other rallies progress with this during the year.”
