Firefighters are in attendance at a fire in a ground floor flat in Ferry Road.

Emergency services were contacted at 9.06 this morning and raced to the scene.

Two people have been taken to hospital after being removed from the house.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: ” Three appliances and one height appliance involving 16 firefighters from Macdonald Road and Crewe Toll fire stations attended.

“Two persons were removed from the property by firefighters and have been taken to hospital.

“The cause of the fire is not known yet.”
