Edinburgh Capitals ice their new Finnish defenceman Julius Nyqvist at Belfast Giants on Saturday (7pm).

The 24-year-old joins the Murrayfield men from the highly-rated Liiga.

And the 5ft 11in defenceman comes well-recommended.

He enjoyed an impressive junior career and represented Finland from under-16 to under-20 level.

He will make his home debut against Fife Flyers on Sunday (6pm), both games in the Challenge Cup.

Nyqvist said: “At this point this move feels like the best chance for me to go forward in my career.”

Fife entertain Dundee Stars on Saturday (7.15pm) looking to build on last weekend’s 2-0 home win over Coventry Blaze in the Elite League.

Braehead Clan remain on the road and visit Coventry on Saturday (7pm) with coach John Tripp looking for a solid performance on the back of last Sunday’s 3-1 victory at Murrayfield.
