Edinburgh City 0 Peterhead 3
Ladbrokes League Two, Saturday 23rd September 2017 – Ainslie Park

Edinburgh City’s brief winning run in Ladbrokes League Two came to an end on Saturday as Peterhead cantered to a 3-0 win.

It was the first-ever meeting of the two clubs but it was all-too reminiscent of City’s 3-0 reversal to Elgin at the same venue four weeks ago. The home side started brightly but then gifted a goal midway through the first half when defensive slackness let Jason Brown open the scoring for the Blue Toon.

City pressed for an equaliser with new boy Karim Belmokhtar looking particularly impressive. However, any hopes the home side had of rescuing a point disappeared eight minutes from the end when former Hearts striker Russell McLean used his 6ft 5” height to good advantage to double Peterhead’s lead.

More defensive slackness from the home team allowed Scott Brown to add a third goal which put the icing on the cake for a deserved Peterhead victory.

Edinburgh City: Antell, Caddow, Tena, Morrison, Rodger, Dunn, Laird, Thomson, Blake, Belmokhtar, Grimes
