Elite League: Dundee Stars 3, Edinburgh Capitals 4 (after penalty shots)

JACOB Johnston netted the game-winner in a shootout as bottom club Edinburgh Capitals edged second-bottom Dundee Stars 4-3 on Tayside.

The basement clash was locked at 2-2 after normal time and sudden death overtime but Matt Tipoff and Johnston netted for the visitors in the shootout and Joey Sides and Mikael Lidhammar failed for Stars.

Earlier, Mason Wilgosh broke the deadlock after 17 minutes for Capitals and Jared Staal made it 2-0 on the power play nine minutes later.

The home side battled back with a double from Cale Tenaka. His first arrived after 30 minutes with Sides and Felix-Antoine Poulin assisting.

And he struck again less than a minute later with the same players setting him up.

Stars led for the first time after 50 minutes when Joey de Concilys scored, Kevin Hart assisting, but Johnston levelled 27 seconds later to take the game to overtime and then penalty shots.
