Hibs’ new on-loan signing Chris Humphrey has revealed that the opportunity to learn from Neil Lennon was a factor in his joining the club and he is hoping to start tonight’s game against Dundee United to show the supporters what he is capable of.

Humphrey is well known in Scotland having played with Motherwell and the Hibs’ fans will remember the part he played in the ‘infamous’ 6-6 draw at Fir Park.

After leaving Lanarkshire, the Jamaican international joined Preston North end where he played in a variety of positions and was a favourite with the supporters.

After learning of Hibs’ interest however he had no hesitation in returning to Scotland and his aim is now to help the club back into the top flight, starting with a victory over second placed Dundee United under the floodlights at Easter Road tonight.

He told Hibernian TV: ” It feels fantastic to join Hibs. There is a great fan base here and the facilities are unbelievable and the lads here are fantastic and they have helped me to settle in right away and that makes it a lot easier.

“I’ve had a great time this week and now I am just looking forward to the game.

“The fact that Hibs are in a promotion push was a factor in me joining. The gaffer (Neil Lennon) is very experienced and has won a lot in Scotland so to have that chance of learning off him was good as well so it was a no brainer.

“I already knew what the club was like from playing up here with Motherwell so I was happy to come up here and have a look and I made my mind up and signed after that.

“When I played at Easter Road with Motherwell, we always knew it would be a hard game and we had some fantastic games against them. The 6-6 is the one I remember the most.

“Hopefully I will get the chance to show the fans that I still have my pace against Dundee United but I don’t know what will happen, whether I will start or be on the bench but I just hope to have a chance to show people what I am about.

“This will be a massive game, a sell out and my family will be there and I am really looking forward to it. hopefully I can add a bit to the team and help them get promotion.

“I’m used to playing in big games at Preston and I have been fortunate enough to have played for my country.”
