Police are appealing for witnesses after a series of break-ins and attempted break-ins in Tranent since yesterday.

On each occasion, entry was gained or attempted via the rear patio doors of the properties with cash, car keys and wallets stolen between the hours of 1 am and 4 am on both days.

The properties targeted were in Lawson Way, Toll House Neuk, Carlaverock Grove and Toll House Gardens.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information that can assist them with their inquiries to get in contact.

Police Sergeant Derek MacDonald of Tranent police station said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in these Tranent streets in the early hours of both Tuesday and Wednesday.

“We are keen to apprehend these individuals as quickly as possible. Meanwhile we will be deploying additional patrols in the area.

“Anyone with information can contact a local officer, call us on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
