A group of members of the former Northfield and Willowbrae Community Council are launching a petition to the council to get the body reinstated later this year at community council election time.

A spokesman said: “The Northfield and Willowbrae Community Council was brought to a close in November because of continued disruption by people largely from outwith our area.   However, the Community Council believed that it was performing a useful function and had put in place some improvements which might not otherwise have been possible.

“Elections for community councils across Edinburgh will take place on the normal 3 year cycle in September.  The terms of office of all members come to an end and each has to be elected again, if they are nominated.

“In Northfield and Willowbrae this will not happen unless a petition is made to the City Council.  Twenty signatures are needed for the petition to be considered, it ‘must be signed by 20 residents in the area who are recorded on the electoral roll’.”

If you wish to sign the petition then you must use the form below and hand it in to Piershill Library who will collect them.

Anyone with any questions can email secretary@northfieldandwillowbrae.org.uk.
