Mark Oxley

Hibs’ goalkeeper Mark Oxley is not worried  about keeping a clean sheet on Sunday at Tynecastle so long as his team get through to the next round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

It’s been a busy week for the Hibs players. a 2-1 win over St Johnstone last Saturday was followed by a 1-0 victory over  Greenock Morton on Tuesday night and now the fans are hoping that Alan Stubbs’ men can make it three away wins in a row by overcoming Hearts in front of a sell-out Tynecastle tomorrow.

‘Ox’ has been in fine form this season since making his move permanent in the summer and he is determined to hear ‘Sunshine on Leith’ sung by the Hibs’ fans in the Roseburn Stand after the final whistle as they did at Easter Road last season.

Speaking ahead of the derby to Hibs TV he said: “When the draw was made everyone was buzzing and it has come round quick. It’s been a tough week with Morton and the cup game last week but we came through it and didn’t lose our momentum going into Sunday.

“Fraser (Fyvie) may be struggling but other that that we have a full squad and we are more than capable of getting a result. we were at Tynecastle last week which gives us an idea about the pitch but full credit to the lads.

“We have done well to get through the rounds and got our rewards with a game against the likes of Hearts.

“It would be great and a clean sheet would be brilliant, I’d take a 5-3 any day. Any result would be great for us and great for the fans. We’ve got through this week with flying colours so to speak, we’ve won both games.

“People would have looked at the Morton game and maybe expected us to slip up, but the manager has instilled into us that we have to take each game as it comes and we’ve got to do that on Sunday.

“The win against Hearts last season at Easter Road was amazing and the fans singing Sunshine on Leith was brilliant and having had that taste you just want to go on and do it at their place.”
