Hearts have announced the departure of under-20s player development manager, Jack Ross. The former Clyde, Falkirk and St Mirren defender was not at Tynecastle last week and speculation mounted about his future.

The 39-year-old arrived in Gorgie in July 2014, working under head coach Robbie Neilson.

Hearts have given no reason for the departure of Ross. Director of football Craig Levein told the official Hearts website: “After discussions with Jack yesterday, it was confirmed that he would leave. We would like to put on record our appreciation for all of the excellent work carried out by Jack during his time with us and for the dedication and commitment he has shown in helping us towards achieving our long-term goals.”

Former Hearts defender and manager Stephen Frail has been linked with a return to Tynecastle.
