Hibernian Ladies booked a League Cup semi-final place yesterday with a victory on penalties over Spartans at Albyn Park, Broxburn.

The tie finished 1-1 after 90 minutes with Sarah Ewens opening the scoring for Spartans with a delightful free-kick before Kirsty Smith equalised for Hibernian on 45 minutes. It was almost a victorious day for Spartans as they took the lead into extra time with Michelle Russell scoring for the visitors only for Lucy Graham to level the scoring once again on 118 minutes. As extra time was over it was now down to penalty kicks, Hibernian with the clinical finishing and beating Spartans 4-1 via spot kicks.

Aberdeen, Celtic and Glasgow City also grabbed quarter final wins.

Aberdeen came from 1-0 down to score two goals in the last ten minutes against Inverness City. MacRae opened the scoring for Inverness City on 66 minutes, however two goals within two minutes for Main (ā€™80) and captain Rachel Small (ā€™82) cemented Aberdeenā€™s semi-final spot.

Stirling University crashed out of the cup after Celtic put four goals past them. A Samantha McManus hat-trick and a single goal by Rushea Littlejohn was more than enough to book their place in the semi.

The final game of the day took place at Excelsior Stadium where Glasgow City scored an astonishing eleven goals past Hutchison Vale. A hat-trick from Fiona Brown, a double from Jo Love and goals apiece from Hayley Lauder, Abbi Grant, Erin Cuthbert, Denise Oā€™Sullivan, Leanne Ross and Alyshia Walker. Glasgow Cityā€™s clinical finishing on the day firmly cemented their place in the semi-finals where they will ensure to put up a good fight to retain their trophy.

The semi-final draw will take place this week with ties to take place on Sunday 10th May at Ainslie Park, Edinburgh. On the semi-final day the first match will kick-off at midday with the second match starting at 3pm.
