Boroughmuir Rugby’s Andy Rose, has been named Captain for the Zimbabwe Sables in their upcoming game against Kenya. Loose forward Rose replaces the injured Daniel Hondo, as one of four changes Zimbabwe have made after their loss to Namibia last week. Rose came off the bench during Zimbabwe’s close defeat to Namibia last Friday and will lead his national team against Kenya on Tuesday night.

Boroughmuir Rugby’s Chairman and former Scotland International, Bill Watson said:- “When Andy was first included in this series of games for Zimbabwe, everyone at Boroughmuir Rugby was incredibly proud of him. For him to be named as captain is just-reward for the hard work that he puts in. This is a massive achievement for him personally.”

In Edinburgh, Rose works at Recycle Scotland, part of the Space Solutions Group. News of Rose’s appointment was well received by his colleagues.

Derek Binnie, Director of Space Solutions commented: ”Being a sponsor of Boroughmuir Rugby for a few years now, I have had the opportunity to see Andy develop as a player. We are absolutely delighted with this achievement and wish him all the best for the upcoming games.”

The Zimbabwe Sables play Kenya on Tuesday night at 7pm (local time) in their final match of the tour to Windhoek (Namibia)
