Police investigating a serious assault in Edinburgh last week have issued a further appeal for information.

A 32-year-old man suffered serious injuries following the incident, which happened on Frederick Street at around 11.45pm on Friday 28th June.

The male responsible made off west along Rose Street in the company of two other men. All three were dressed in tradesman attire and spoke with English accents.

Enquiries are on-going to establish whether the trio had been within any city centre pubs prior to the attack and patrons of nearby premises are asked to come forward if they recognise their description.

Officers also believe that two men, who witnessed the assault, followed the males towards Princes Street where they were lost to sight and it is thought they boarded a bus.

These men are asked to get in touch and assist police with their enquiries.

The victim remains in hospital where he continues to be treated.

Detective Constable Richard Johnston said: “We now have a better idea as to where the suspect and his friends headed after the assault.

“However, we remain keen to speak with anyone who perhaps saw the men in any establishments in the area before to the incident took place.

“In addition, the enquiry team would like to trace the two men who followed the males as they made their way from Frederick Street, to Princes Street.

“These individuals or anyone else who can assist with our investigation is asked to contact police immediately.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
