Tea Fuelled presents the World Premiere of ‘Superbard: The Flood’, a new show from multimedia storyteller, Superbard

Superhero of spoken word, Superbard, returns to the Edinburgh Fringe for the fourth consecutive year with ‘Superbard: The Flood’, the world’s first show to feature an interconnected eBook.

One man’s obsessive search for enlightenment is inconveniently interrupted by the apocalypse. It’s raining, and it just won’t stop. Fast paced and fantastical, ‘The Flood’ weaves together short stories to portray a world steeped in computer games, sing-along choruses and lots and lots of water.

A new innovation in blending media – and a world first – Superbard crafted the show alongside, and interlinking with, an eBook of short stories, music and illustration. The live storytelling show is not an adaptation of the eBook but a complementary standalone piece. Based in the same world, it takes up new characters and stories weaving them together with those in the eBook. ‘The Flood’ eBook was released in February 2013 is currently shortlisted for a Saboteur Award.

Superbard is a storyteller from the future played by writer, composer and performer George Lewkowicz. A pioneer in multimedia performance, Superbard pushes the boundaries of storytelling, blending his stories with original music and video. He has performed on Radio 4, Newsnight and hosts his own spoken word show on Resonance FM. His fourth consecutive Edinburgh show, ‘The Flood’ is Superbard’s most innovative yet.

Superbard is a passionate believer in the potential of Spoken Word, and last year spearheaded the successful lobby for its own section in the Fringe guide.

Talking about his show, Superbard said “With my shows I try to go beyond what the audience might expect from storytelling, and I hope ‘The Flood’ will add to the huge momentum Spoken Word is gathering. It’s the second year for the Spoken Word section and I’m excited about building on last year. We’re all pushing the genre in different directions and as a musician as well as a storyteller; I’ve got the freedom to bring my keyboard.”
