WORLD PREMIERE OF DEVIATIONS ON A PIANO

1-15 AUGUST 2013 – THE ASSEMBLY ROOMS

Take two internationally acclaimed concert pianists who share a wicked sense of humour and what you get are Worbey and Farrell.  They will astound you with their virtuoso talent and, amaze you with sheer ingenuity and amuse you with a unique brand of musical mayhem.

Following their acclaimed Fringe debut in 2011, these Edinburgh based 20 fingers are back with their proudest work yet  – their very own composition – 24 Deviations on a Caprice – based on the Caprice No. 24 in A minor by Niccolò Paganini. There has not been a new set of variations written on this much loved and recognised gem for over 40 years.

Worbey and Farrell have played with the world’s leading symphony orchestras, appeared on This Morning, achieved over a  million hits on YouTube, and entertained all over the globe with their barnstorming blend of sparky comedy and utterly sensational piano-playing.  With their aim to make classical music as accessible as possible the show has neither black ties nor tailcoats and the chatty style is not one encountered at many concert halls.

As they perform their piano can imitate the tones of a Spanish guitar, resound with their own Paganini Deviations, or pulsate with the passions of the masters of jazz. They perform everything from Rachmaninov’s 18th Variation to Carnival of the Animals.
