Udderbelly, Bristo Square from 1 to 26 August at 4:20pm. No performances on Tuesdays 6, 13 & 20 August

High on the success of a three-week run at London’s Udderbelly Festival, daredevil international circus gang Pirates of the Carabina brings its hit show FLOWN to this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Bold and breathtaking, FLOWN is performed by a company of nine aerialists, riggers, dancers, singers and musicians aged between 19 and 67. They invite us to share in the thrills, spills and physical feats which define the life of a world-class circus entertainer. The problem is, the show is about to start and no-one is prepared.

Disagreements and disasters threaten to splinter the professional facade of this dazzling troupe. The world turns upside down with swinging drum kits, flying ironing boards and a foot-stamping diva – all to a live soundtrack of punky guitars, folksy accordion and indie vocals.

Pirates of the Carabina are British, Irish, Finnish and American circus artists whose performance credits include De La Guarda, Footsbarn Theatre and NoFit State Circus.

FLOWN is presented by Crying Out Loud and Pirates of the Carabina. It was originally commissioned by Glastonbury Festival where it played to capacity crowds in the Circus Big Top in 2011 and returns in 2013.
