Edinburgh Cycle Challenge 10-30 May is the workplace challenge which is aimed at encouraging people to try cycling.

We explained earlier about the tax incentive Bike to Work scheme which was introduced in 1999.

City Cycling Edinburgh Forum was launched in 2009 and is a forum for all cyclists about all cycling matters including potholes. It also links to a very nice website which helps you plan your cycle route. Edinburgh CycleStreets is a useful tool for novice city cyclists.

Cycling Scotland bills itself as the national cycling promotion agency for Scotland. However its

Cycling Edinburgh has a good site which aims to ‘highlight cycling activities and possibilities around Edinburgh’ although some bits of the site are a little outdated so not sure quite how active this one is?

Spokes is the Lothian Cycle Campaign aimed at promoting cycling as sustainable transport and as a leisure activity. It is voluntary, non party political and boasts a membership of over 1000.

The Bike Station recycles old bikes, sells bike parts and undertakes training of cyclists. It is a charity which promotes cycling. Dr Bike will come to your workplace to service bikes there. They also run clinics at outdoor events.

20-milers is a monthly meet of easy bike rides.

Mellow Velo is an organisation which sets up day and weekend trips

CTC Lothians is the local branch of the UK cyclists touring club. They have cycle rides on three days a week and support cycle campaigning activities.

Sustrans is the charity which promotes sustainable transport. It works to provide car-free access to essential local services and encourage active travel. They have a shop for all your cycling needs and the proceeds help fund the charity. So get your cycle shorts here!
