Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault that took place on Saturday morning.

The assault is believed to have occurred between 6am and 7am on Gilmerton Road, near to Glenallan Drive, when a 29 year old man was assaulted by two men.

One of the two suspects has been described as male, white, aged 20 – 25 years, 5ft 10in tall, with a lean to medium build, ginger hair, local accent and wearing a navy blue cotton bottoms and a light blue Adidas hooded top.

Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to contact police on 101.

Sergeant Robbie Wallace said: “This serious assault left the victim with three fractured ribs and so we are appealing for anyone in Gilmerton Road between 6am and 7am to get in touch with police.”
