Community Councils in Edinburgh

Community councils are elected bodies set up with volunteer members who are either nominated or elected every five years. There are around 1200 in Scotland and 43 in Edinburgh.

One of the most influential spheres of their work relates to local planning matters. They are always notified of any planning applications in their local area as an affected body and have a right to say what they think about the applications.
