The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack in South Queensferry has been shortlisted for the Restaurant of the Year title in the National Fish & Chip Awards 2027.
This is considered one of the benchmarks of excellence in the sector with food quality, customer experience, the way the business is run and staff development all under scrutiny.

Bryan Coghill, owner of The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack in South Queensferry said: “We are incredibly proud to be the only fish and chip restaurant in Scotland shortlisted in the National Fish & Chip Awards Top 10 UK fish and chip restaurants.
“It’s a huge achievement for our team which continues to put itself on the map for serving the most delicious fish and chips, cooked with love and attention, a dish which is still the nation’s favourite.
“We are very much looking forward to flying the flag for South Queensferry, and Scotland, at the Awards in London next year. In our opinion, Scottish fish & seafood is the finest in the world, and we make sure we showcase it every day to its best advantage.
“This news comes at a vibrant time for us, as only last night, we were named Best Fish & Chip Restaurant in Scotland at the Scottish Restaurant awards, one of the first awards of the ‘season’.
“We would like to thank our loyal customers whose votes last night ensured that we won. We’d also like to thank our suppliers who make it easy for us to shine.
“Everything we do is designed to elevate fish and chips, giving our customers a consistent plate of food every time they come in to eat with us.”
Andrew Crook, president of the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), which organises the event, says the awards bring the industry together to celebrate its finest. “Choosing our top 10 Restaurant of the Year shortlist is one of the most rewarding parts of the competition, and this year’s participants are showcasing remarkable skill, commitment and innovation.
“Their achievements highlight the excellent standards being set by businesses that continue to raise the bar.
“Their success is not only a testament to their hard work but also highlights the incredible opportunities available for people looking to build rewarding careers.
“The National Fish & Chip Awards is proud to celebrate the businesses, teams and individuals who make our industry so dynamic, while shining a light on the varied roles that underpin their success.
“From developing culinary skills and customer service expertise to building careers in business management and leadership, these restaurants offer an exciting future for the next generation of talent.”
