Witness appeal after sheep killed in dog attack on Pentlands
An investigation is underway following the death of a sheep in a case of worrying in the Pentlands.
The incident took place around 4.30pm on Friday 21st March 2025.
Three females aged 16-18 were walking a black Labrador style dog in the vicinity.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Unfortunately we are reporting another case of sheep worrying in the Pentlands, this time near to Clubbiedean Reservoir.
“A dog has chased a sheep in a field causing it to jump over a wall and land heavily. It was pregnant at the time and the lamb was stillborn.
“The sheep has succumbed to its injuries.
“This incident occurred about 4.30pm on Friday 21st March.
“Three females aged 16-18 were walking a black Labrador style dog.
“Did you see anything?
“If so please contact 101 quoting incident number 1628 of 23/03/25. A reminder to keep your dog on a lead anywhere near sheep, especially during lambing season.”
