Kirkbrae cricketers create new role for Taha

Kirkbrae Cricket Club, who have teams in Division two and six of the East Leagues have created a new role for 2025 with Taha Khan, an ICC qualified coach, appointed Development Manager.

Captaining the 1st X1 will be Afaque Hussain while founder member Peter Thomson is expected to be turning out at the age of 68.

Known as “The Badgers” Peter, pictured, founded the club in 1980 along with Danny Blyth and Brian McDonald, a fellow Liberton HS student, with over 300 players turning out up until the present day.

Sadly, Danny passed away some years ago.

Kirkbrae have enjoyed successes, too, and since league reconstruction in 2007 they have won two league titles with the 2nd X1 also successful.

In 2023 they won the Terry Newcombe knock out cup which they came close to defending last year, finishing runners-up.

Captaining the 2nd X1 will be Zakir Hussain with Irfan Butt in charge of the midweek side.
