Jack lands cracking brown trout at Glencorse

Glencorse, which is now open for the season, continues to delight anglers and here is an example.

Jim Jack (pictured) proudly holds a lovely brown trout which he tempted in difficult conditions at the reservoir in The Pentland Hills.

The fish was released and Jack plus his boat partner, Keith Logan, had around 30 fish to the boat during their session.

Bill Taylor, the fishery owner, said the pair had a good day despite a blustery, cold wind, which swept across the water.

Anglers at Newlands Tweeddale near Gifford also enjoyed a good day. Colin Hewit from Musselburgh was top rod with six on a black buzzer pattern.

Jock Lithgow (Gorebridge) was next best with five on FAB while Gordon Yule (Dalkeith) had three also on FAB.

And David Carruthers and Brian Scott both had four fish at Bowden Springs near Linlithgow, Carruthers on apps and Scott, who had a best of a 6lb brown, on snakes and buzzer.

In West Calder, Allandale Tarn continues to impress with the rising temperatures and a wee breeze making the difference.

Ian McKeag had 16 to the net and FAB and buzzers have been working from a floating line.

Harlaw Reservoir opens for the season on Tuesday, day permits available online, and anglers can fish the Water of Leith from April 1 providing they have a free permit available from the Water of Leith Centre in Lanark Road, Edinburgh.
