David Gray praises the Hibs fans that travelled to Celtic Park

Hibs head coach David Gray praised the travelling supporters as his side fell to defeat at Celtic Park yesterday.

Late goals in both halves condemned Hibs to defeat and ultimately knocked them out of the Scottish Cup at the Quarter-Final stage.

Throughout the game Hibs were supported magnificently throughout the match by the 7,045 supporters that travelled through from the capital.

After the final whistle Gray said: “The support was incredible. A lot was made about the ticket sales and 7,000 coming through, they made noise until the very end and clapped the players off for their efforts. It shows the togetherness and they’re very much on this journey with us. I know they’ll be with us right until the very end this season. There’s a lot still to play for in the league campaign.

“This is a feeling we’ve not felt for a very long time, and it’s not a nice one when it comes along. I will never ever accept losing games of football, but the result wasn’t through a lack of effort at all.

“The players gave absolutely everything, and we were well in the game until the very end, but we didn’t really do enough to test Schmeichel.

“We had one big chance in the first half, but any other time we had an opportunity to really test Celtic the final ball or our decision making let us down. I thought Celtic deserved to win in the end.”

“I am disappointed we didn’t put on more of an attacking performance for them at times, because there were opportunities to do it, but we will quickly move on, and our attentions turn to Kilmarnock.”
