Police Scotland welcomes 253 new recruits at ceremonies across country

Police Scotland welcomed 253 new officers as they took their oath of office at ceremonies across the country yesterday Thursday 7 November 2024.

The latest officers were sworn in at regional training centres in the communities they will deploy to after their training.

Chief Constable Jo Farrell said: “Taking the oath of office today is a significant moment for our latest recruits.

“They are signing up to a hugely rewarding and demanding job where people will turn to them for help, often in the most critical and vulnerable circumstances.

“Taking on the responsibilities and duties of a police officer is a deeply considered decision and I thank every one of them for stepping forward to help safeguard Scotland’s communities.”

The officers will be ready to deploy to communities on 3 March 2025. The new recruits mean officer numbers were 16,603 as of 4 November.

Police Scotland is now recruiting police officers to support our urban, rural and remote communities.
