Martin Boyle celebrates his daughter Sofia’s birthday with a goal and three points
Martin Boyle celebrated his daughter Sofia’s birthday with a goal and three points against St Johnstone at Easter Road yesterday.
After being away on international duty with the Soceroos, Boyle and team mate Lewis Miller started the game on the bench.
But after coming on as a substitute his wonderful dinked finish from Chris Cadden’s through ball sealed all three-points.
When speaking to Hibs TV, Boyley explained how pleased he was to grab his second league goal of the season.
“I’m really pleased. Three points was the most important thing. It gives us momentum and a winning feeling back around the place, which gives everyone a lift. I’m delighted.
“My little daughter, Sofia, is two today. She’s been running around daft this morning with her Hibs top on. It was a great moment. Thankfully she saw it and I’ll go home and enjoy the rest of the day with her.”
When Boyle was slipped through on goal, he had support from Mykola Kuharevich. He chose to go alone, and finished expertly to double Hibs’ advantage.
When thinking back to that moment, he described what went through his head in that moment.
“I’ve been listening to my dad lately and trying to be a bit more selfish to get my numbers up.
“As soon as I got the through ball, the only thing I had in my mind was scoring that goal.
A few of the lads have mentioned or asked if I was going to pass to Myko, but my head was down and I wanted to score.
“I’m sure I can assist Myko a few times over the rest of the season.”
