Sea and trout fishing latest

The Bass Rock Shore Angling League are back in business after their summer holiday break and the first action is on Wednesday evening.

It’s a Dunbar Rover where anglers are allowed to pick their own favourite place to fish between the toilet block at Belhaven Beach and the toilet block at Whitesands.

Registration is at Dunbar Harbour between 6pm and 6.30pm and fishing is from 7pm to 10pm and only sizeable fish are to be weighed in.

Scales close at 10.20pm and the weigh-in is back at Dunbar Harbour.

The payout is 50 per cent for the heaviest bag and 50 per cent for the heaviest fish and this is round eight.

The Scottish Federation of Sea Anglers host their individual members shore competition on Sunday, August 11 in the Cree Estuary in Galloway with fishing from 12.30 to 5.30. This event a pre-book only and is closed for individual members of the federation.

Over to trout fishing and Loganlea host a Summer Doubles Day on Saturday from 8.00 to 16.30 with boat and bank angling allowed.

The organisers are looking for 16 teams and entry is £45 per person. There are prizes for first, second and third, the heaviest fish and the heaviest bag and sponsors include Fishers of Penicuik.

Nearby, Glencorse boss Bill Taylor is increasing his stocking over the next few weeks to cover for the fish which escaped during a recent flash flood.
