Detectives investigating Princes Street bus stop assault make arrest

Detectives investigation the report of a serious assault in Edinburgh city centre have made an arrest. 

The incident took place shortly after midnight on Tuesday 2^nd July at the number 30 bus stop on Princes Street between Charlotte Street and Castle Street. 

Following the incident a 47-year-old man attended Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries. 

Officers this morning confirmed that a 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged. 

He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow Monday 8^th July 2024. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault which occurred on Princes Street, Edinburgh, on Tuesday, 2 July, 2024. 

“He is due to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 8 July, 2024, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
