Monarchs ready for Masters class
Sam Masters guests for Stellar Monarchs against Scunthorpe Scorpions in the Cab Direct Championship at Armadale on Friday (tapes-up 7.30pm), replacing crocked No 1 Josh Pickering.
Pickering has a shoulder injury and a specialist in Poland reports that the injury is not as bad as had been feared and he should be back in the saddle soon.
Lasse Fredriksen returns to the side after illness but Monarchs’ skipper, Paco Castagna, will be travelling for his Grand Prix qualifier so Monarchs call up Berwick’s Drew Kemp to stand in. The captaincy passes to Justin Sedgmen.
Monarchs will also track their 16-year-old rider Max James who returns after sitting exams. He said: “We have shown we can do it already this season although it is going to be tough.
“It is nights like this that show what a team is made of so we will go into the meeting in high spirits.”
Scunthorpe will be at full-strength and have a solid side and Scorpions recently knocked Berwick Jewson Bandits out of the Knockout Cup and have won at Redcar this year.
Friday’s match will be live streamed on BSN and details are on www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk.
