Harris key for Tigers as they host Monarchs

Evergreen Chris Harris continues to deliver for Glasgow Tigers and he will be a real danger man as Stellar Monarchs travel along the M8 for Friday’s key BSN Series clash (tapes-up 7.30pm).

The latest standings issued by the British Speedway press office show that Berwick still top the Scottish group with four points from the same number of matches.

Edinburgh are second with three points from two outings and Glasgow also have three points from their two fixtures so the outcome of the section is between these two sides.

It’s tight and the sides have yet to meet this term as Monarchs’ scheduled home fixture with their arch rivals was postponed on Friday, April 5 because of heavy rain.

Both sides go into the contest on the back of wins, Edinburgh beating Poole Pirates in the Championship Knockout Cup, second-leg, at Armadale 47-43 but going out on aggregate after the Dorset club won 49-40 on their track.

Tigers, backed by Allied Vehicles, beat Workington 47-43 in their opening Cab Direct Championship meeting at Ashfield and team manager, Cami Brown, said Harris (pictured) was out of this world after he guided them to a tense victory.

The Cumbrian side gave the defending league champs a stern test with ex-Tigers Craig Cook and Claus Vissing impressing, but skipper Harris was there when required and delivered a 15-point maximum to help steer the home side to a win.

Brown admitted: “Chris led us to another big victory. He won all the big races, including two of the last three, to make sure we didn’t slip up, but, as a team we still have a lot to work on.”
