Hearts must wait for Euro passport

Frustration for Hearts and their fans after the no-score draw at Kilmarnock despite hitting the woodwork twice in the first half, a session that the visitors dominated.

Failure to secure three points means that the Jambos have not yet officially secured third spot in the cinch Premiership which guarantees a passport to a European group stage.

The Gorgie combine came up against a side who are now unbeaten in six league games and Kilmarnock now travel to Ibrox to face Rangers next Sunday (13.00) while Hearts visit Celtic on Saturday (15.00).

Kenneth Vargas and Cammy Devlin both hit the bar, the Costa Rican rattling the woodwork with a strong shot and Devlin clipped the frame with a curling effort.

Defender Frankie Kent also came close with a header and Jorge Grant also forced Killie goalkeeper Will Dennis into smart stop.

It was not all one way and Zander Clark (pictured in training) had to save from former Jambos forward Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Findlay headed over early on.

As it stands, Hearts have 63 points from their 34 starts and sit third while Kilmarnock have 52 points from the same number of fixtures with St Mirren in fifth spot on 43 points from 33 games.

Sixth are Dundee with 41 points also from 33 outings.
