Anda ends seven year wait for win over Trump

Zhang Anda was left reeling when Judd Trump, who many experts believe to be the player of the season so far, claimed six frames in a row to win the BetVictor English Open.

However, the International Champion earned revenge with a 4-2 victory over Trump, a former world No 1 and world champion, in the BetVictor Scottish Open at Meadowbank to progress to the third round.

And the welcome win by the 31-year-old was the first by Zhang over Bristol-born Trump (pictured) since they met in the 2016 World Open. Breaks of 71, 114, 82 and 81 were on the board to leave Trump packing his bags.

The Chinese player, nicknamed Mighty Mouse, next faces either world championship semi-finalist Si Jiahui of former Shoot Out runner-up Julien Lecrercq.

Jimmy White was also in fine form on Day Two beating Jimmy Robertson 4-3.

Day 3 highlights include John Higgins v Ricky Walden (8pm) and Tom Ford v Ding Junhui (8pm) while Martin O’Donnell plays world champion Luca Brecel (19.00).

Defending champion Gary Wilson from Tyneside plays Xing Zihao (13.00).

Early starters are Joe O’Connor, last year’s runner-up in the Scottish Open, against Scott Donaldson, the 29-year-old from Perth (10.00).
