Five things you need to know today
Today at the Council
The Development Management Committee meets today to discuss a long list of planning applications all of which are recommended for approval except the application for planning permission for a short term let in Dean Village.
The planning officer urges refusal on the basis that the development will be “materially detrimental effect on the living conditions and amenity of nearby residents” but another application to convert an office in Rose Street South Lane into a development of four short term lets – with an external door – is recommended for approval. In this latter case there is no real threat of the development impacting on local residents – the nearest one is about 7 metres away and the report makes it clear that this is a busy street with high noise levels.

Filmhouse – how you can help
If you have access to a printer then go to the Filmhouse website and download a poster to put up in your office, local shop or pub. The crowdfunder to open the doors has reached the tantalising sum of £149,470 when we last looked.
Any help to open the doors on Lothian Road will be very welcome.
Digital assistance
If you are just a wee bit baffled by technology or know someone who is then make your way to Space at the Broomhouse Hub on Wednesday afternoons when help is on offer.
