Triple blow for Scots ice hockey clubs
Elite League: Fife Flyers 1, Manchester Storm 5; Cardiff Devils 6, Glasgow Clan 3. Challenge Cup: Belfast Giants 5, Dundee Stars 4 (after sudden death overtime).
Fife Flyers fans have not seen their side win at home this season after going down 5-1 to Manchester Storm at Kirkcaldy despite going 1-0 ahead through Janne Laakkonen after 18 minutes, a goal in which new signing Jan Kloz was involved.
The club, where Todd Dutiaume (left) is head coach and Jeff Hutchins his associate, lost the next two sessions 2-0 and 3-0 with Jesper Ohrvall netting twice for the visitors.
And Dundee Stars lost 5-4 in overtime at Belfast Giants after leading 4-3 with less than 12 minutes left. Giants levelled at 4-4 and David Gilbert netted the game-winner 1min 39sec into the extra session.
Elsewhere, the agony continues for Glasgow Clan who skidded to a sixth straight defeat, this time at Cardiff Devils.
The Welsh side took command of the Elite League clash by winning the first session 3-1 – Gary Haden scoring the the Scots – and the second 3-0.
Clan replied with two goals from former Cardiff player Stephen Dixon and Craig Peacock, to win the final session but it was too little too late.
