Antigua and Barbuda Ambassador Dario Item pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II
The death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has left the world in mourning. The British monarch was a much-loved and respected figure, and her death has been felt by many beyond around the world. Among those who have paid tribute to the Queen is Ambassador Dario Item, Antigua and Barbuda’s permanent representative to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation
In a statement, Ambassador Dario Item said that he was saddened by the news of the Queen’s death, and paid tribute to her lifetime of service to her country and the Commonwealth. He also praised her “unwavering commitment to peace and cooperation”.
The Ambassador said that the Queen was “an inspiration to us all”, and that her “legacy will live on”. He further added that she will be “greatly missed”.
As Antigua and Barbuda’s permanent representative to UNWTO, H.E Dr. Dario Item joins the government of Antigua and Barbuda, in sending their condolences to the Royal Family for the recent passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Ambassador Dario Item shared that in solidarity and support of the mourning, the Antigua and Barbuda Embassy in Madrid, has set its flag at half mast till the funeral.
“As a sign of mourning and deep respect for Queen Elizabeth II, the flag of Antigua and Barbuda at the Embassy will be flown at half mast until the day of the funeral.”

Ambassador Item further praises the late monarch and her devotion to the service of the people, sharing: “From Her Coronation in 1953, Her Majesty has set an example of total devotion to Great Britain, the Commonwealth and people around the world.
He further adds, “Her generosity of spirit not only to the people of Her country but to those of many countries around the world, has meant that Her Majesty has always been seen and respected by all as their Queen.”
The diplomat accredited as Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda to the Kingdom of Spain, the Principality of Monaco, and the Principality of Liechtenstein, Ambassador Dario Item joins the Government of Antigua and Barbuda in recognition of her outstanding service to the people of Antigua and Barbuda and the Commonwealth.
In a statement, Ambassador Item highlights the “Queen’s tireless service and inspiration not only for the people of the United Kingdom, but also her dedication to the Commonwealth in promoting peace, democracy, and development”.
Her Majesty The Queen’s State Funeral, declared as national bank holiday, will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September at 11am British Standard Time (BST).
