Richard Shillcock who will be standing in Leith Walk ward for the Communist Party of Britain.

The last communist party candidate to stand in Leith was renowned children’s author Honor Arundel who contested the 1966 General election.
Shillcock, said: “Communist candidates  are standing across Scotland and we will be offering the left political alternative to the SNP, Labour, LibDems and Greens.” 
“The leaderships of all four are committed to free market capitalism.”
” We’ll be putting the case for Socialist policies that will make a real difference for working people.”
“We relish the chance for street campaigning and debate.”
“My campaign priorities for Edinburgh include local plans to tackle Scotland’s drug deaths – the worst in Europe and to support local jobs and housing.”
