Ryanair have announced more routes to be added to their Winter 2021/22 schedule from Edinburgh Airport.
The total number of routes which the airline is flying from Edinburgh is now 50 with hopes for tourism recovery in Europe. The four new routes include Cork, Madrid, Palermo and Paris. Beauvais.
Ryanair’s Director of Marketing, Dara Brady said:“Ryanair remains committed to re-building Scotland’s tourism industry and strengthening connectivity as Ryanair continues to grow in Europe and travel returns to pre-pandemic level. As Ryanair takes delivery of 55 Boeing 737-8200 ‘Gamechanger’ aircraft this Winter, we are delighted to announce these four new routes from Edinburgh this Winter on the back of the recent Scottish travel announcement – now operating a total of 50 routes.
“As travel continues to grow and consumer confidence in air travel returns, Ryanair once again calls on the UK Govt to scrap or suspend APD (air passenger duty), to allow airlines quickly recover connectivity, jobs and tourism in the aftermath of the pandemic. APD makes Scottish airports very uncompetitive versus Europe, where Ryanair continues to add capacity, having opened a number of bases in recent months in the likes of Agadir, Zagreb, Billund, Stockholm, Riga and Turin. While Ryanair is committed to Scotland and its Edinburgh airport, the lack of Govt support continues to create further barriers to boosting traffic and growth.
“We are launching a seat sale to celebrate the new Winter routes from Edinburgh, with fares available from just £19.99 for travel until end March, which must be booked by midnight Sunday, 3rd October 2021. Our customers can now book in a winter getaway from Edinburgh to Cork, Madrid, Palermo or Paris. Since these amazing low fares will be snapped up quickly, customers should log onto www.ryanair.com to avoid missing out.”
Kate Sherry, Aviation Director at Edinburgh Airport said: “We know people need and want to travel and with restrictions easing, we want to provide as many options as possible for them to finally take that trip they’ve been waiting for. It’s clear to see there is confidence in the Edinburgh market as one for sustainable growth and it is good news that Ryanair are working with us to add new routes where possible and help people return to travel safely.”
