With uncertainty hanging over where we’ll be allowed to go next summer, TUI UK is tempting us (and letting us dream) with 11 holiday destinations on offer direct from Edinburgh for winter 2021/22 and summer 2022.

That seems a long way off, but summer 2022 packages go on sale from 5 November 2020 with a range of sweeteners including free kids’ places, low deposits from £75 per person and no deposits on direct debit bookings made online.

Destinations include Corfu, where seven nights self-catering at the 3T Agnes Beach in Kavos in August 2022 starts at £280 per person when booked online, based on two adults sharing and including flights from Edinburgh.

TUI will also fly from Edinburgh to Spanish hotspots including Lanzarote, Tenerife, Malaga, Menorca and Palma, to Dalaman in Turkey Burgas in Bulgaria, and to Naples and Paphos. For those who fancy a more exotic long-haul beach break, Cancun in Mexico is also on offer.

TUI says it is seeing an upward trend in 4 and 5-star all-inclusive hotel bookings for next summer, with over 40% of customers surveyed expressing this preference. This includes hotels which offer the ‘best of both worlds’ with villas or room options with private pools and accommodation as families in particular seek to continue to feel safe in their ‘bubble’. TUI will be offering 233 different options in 155 hotels for this growing category in summer 2021 and expects this trend to continue for summer 2022.

The holiday company also foresees a boom in villa holidays, with 18% of customers surveyed saying they would look to book a villa holiday with car hire included to make making social distancing easier on holiday. TUI is offering 150 villas with flights and car hire included for summer 2021 and summer 2022 in Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, mainland Spain, Portugal, Italy and Florida.

Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport said: “We know there’s an appetite to return to travel and people are looking forward to getting away and enjoying a well-deserved holiday, whether that be some sunshine or a city break. We always look to provide variety and that will be more important than ever as people begin to travel again.

“TUI’s announcement is hugely positive as they commit to Edinburgh and we look to restore Scotland’s connectivity, bring people back to Edinburgh Airport and invite others from around the world to rediscover this amazing capital city.”
