Hibernian Women sign Chelsea McEachran from Hearts

Hibernian Women have signed Chelsea McEachran from Hearts.

Having previously played for Motherwell and Hearts at SWPL level, as well as being capped for Scotland up to Under-17s, the 18 year-old attacking midfielder brings a wealth of experience and quality into Dean Gibson’s squad ahead of the upcoming season.

McEachran also becomes the sixth signing made by the club in 2020.

After putting pen-to-paper, Hibernian’s new number 22 told Hibernian Media: “Having played against Hibernian last season I was already aware of the quality and experience within the team and I thought the move would be the best step for my development.

“I can’t wait to get started and be pushed on at a higher level by the professionalism shown throughout the team. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can bring to Hibernian and how the club can help improve me as a player.”

Dean also gave his thoughts on securing Chelsea’s signature: “I am delighted to bring Chelsea to the club. She has been a player on my radar for a good while.

“I had her in before when I was the coach of the Hibernian Academy Under-23s but she decided to sign for Motherwell, who were playing in the SWPL.

“That move was probably perfect for her at that time and gave her valuable experience of this league from such a young age.

“Chelsea will bring good technical ability to the squad but also an aggression and she is very streetwise on the pitch. When you see her play you wouldn’t think she is only 18.

“As with all young players, Chelsea is one we are adamant we can develop further and we are just delighted to be the next stage of her development. She will add even more competition to a strong squad.”
