Investigation underway after attempted murder of 55-year-old man in Gilmerton

A police investigation is underway after a 55-year-old man was attacked in Gilmerton early this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Ravenscroft Street around 1.45am and the incident is being treated as an ‘attempted murder.’

The man was taken to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary where he remains in a stable condition.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.45am on Saturday, 12 September, police received reports of a serious assault on Ravenscroft Street in Edinburgh.

“Officers attended and a 55-year-old man was found to have suffered serious injuries, he was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he remains in a stable condition.

“Enquiries into the incident, which is being treated as attempted murder, are ongoing”.
