It was a bit of a grey day for the finish, but Helen Wass O’Donnell was still smiling as she crossed the finish line at Cramond, after her 120 mile challenge.
Helen has Multiple Sclerosis and Brainstem Encephalitis, so this was no mean feat. She had been due to travel to Africa to climb Kilimanjaro, but due to a serious fall and Covid-19 that is now on the back burner.
She calculated that the height of the mountain in miles is 3.663, so armed with her Road Runner she has walked that distance every day from 7 August, Her goal is to raise £3,663 for the MS Therapy Centre Lothian which has given her such a lot of help.
On the final day she was joined by Finlay Menzies and his mum Jill who live in Balerno, Caroline Kerr with Olivia (6) and Imogen (2) who held the finishing tape, her partner Ros Wass O’Donnell and their daughter Chelsea and physiotherapist, Gillian Robinson, from the MS Therapy Centre. Other supporters included Bence Solymar with his dog Cholan, Isabel Sarle with her grandson Joshua and Helen’s next door neighbour Amy with baby Max. Â

Helen said: “The MS centre is a brilliant place where a wide range of people gather for group and individual therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, physiotherapy, massage, Reiki, hypnotherapy, pilates, yoga, and a great cup of tea and a natter.
“Their support for me over the last ten plus years has been brilliant.”
